The 21 year old only moved to Ukraine last August, in a deal worth £21m, but has struggled for form at the Donbass Arena and may feel his chances of securing a prominent place in Felipe Scolari’s squad for the 2014 World Cup finals may have suffered as a result.
Tim Sherwood may feel he could do with an additional wide attacking option with Nacer Chadli and Aaron Lennon struggling for form and Andros Townsend having injury concerns for much of the current campaign.
Prior to his move to Shakhtar Bernard had been strongly linked with interest from Arsenal and the young attacker may well be keen on a move to the Premier League.
Bernard could also be encouraged by a move to White Hart Lane due to the presence of national team colleagues Paulinho and Sandro.
