Tottenham Hotspur: five players Spurs should sell this summer

Posted by

2. Roberto Soldado

Most Spurs fans would like to see the Spaniard given another chance next season in a system that suits his game (no inverted wingers!). But Spurs should learn a lesson from rivals Chelsea, who gave struggling striker Fernando Torres far too many chances to the detriment of the team. It’s possible that Soldado simply isn’t cut out for Premier League football and if Spurs can get a good price for the 28-year-old, they should look to sell this summer and reinvest in a proven Premier League striker. Romelu Lukaku anyone?

1. Aaron Lennon

Like Dawson, Lennon has been at the club for longer than most but the winger, who is still just 26, doesn’t seem to have improved much since his debut at 18. In fact, Lennon’s got worse. The speedster’s final ball has always been erratic but he no longer seems capable of beating his man and one goal and one assist all season suggest the Yorkshireman is offering little, barring his usual work-rate. If Erik Lamela can get back to his best, Spurs may not need to buy a replacement but they should call time on Lennon’s spell at the club, which has gone stagnant.
