Toffees boss Roberto Martinez faces the very real possibility of starting next season with very little in the way of a cutting edge up front, with the likes of Lacina Traore and Romelu Lukaku likely to return to AS Monaco and Chelsea respectively, and as such the Everton manager is feverishly looking for summer additions to address the problem.

Football Direct News claim the answer could lie with experienced Napoli striker Goran Pandev who could just be open to a move to the Premier League.

The 30 year old Macedonian has spent the last decade impressing in Serie A but is now something of a bit-part player at Napoli and could feel the time is right for a fresh challenge.

Pandev has just over a year to run on his San Paolo contract so wouldn’t cost a huge sum and his ability to make an impact at the highest level can not be denied.

The burly attacker initially signed for Inter Milan back in 2001 but didn’t play a senior fixture for the San Siro side in his initial spell, spending time out on loan before moving to the Stadio Olimpico in 2004.

In five seasons at Lazio Pandev developed a reputation as an uncompromising customer who cause defences no end of headaches, netting 60 goals for the Rome side before returning to Inter Milan where he spent two seasons, assisting the club to numerous honours including the Serie A title and a Champions League triumph.

Now in his second term at Napoli it seems Rafa Benitez would be open to allowing Pandev to leave for Everton and probably for a modest fee to boot.
