Tottenham have sacked manager Tim Sherwood according to reports on the BBC.

The outspoken White Hart Lane boss has been axed less than six months into his post having taken over from Andre Villas-Boas last December.

The former midfielder had put pen to paper on an 18 month deal but it’s no surprise that chairman Daniel Levy has opted to act swiftly after the north London side failed to secure a coveted top four finish.

Sherwood’s naive approach to dealing with the media was at times refreshing though in the long run could well have played it’s part in his sacking.

Though his win percentage of 59% was the highest of any Tottenham manager he still effectively guided the club backwards, the club having been five points off fourth spot when he took charge and some ten points off by the end of the campaign.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax boss Frank de Boer currently lead the betting to replace Sherwood.
