Sources close to the north London outfit claim that sporting director Franco Baldini is looking to utilise his extensive contact book in his homeland to boost the club’s defensive options during the upcoming transfer window.

And part of Baldini’s requirements has him looking for players that already have Premier League experience, leading him to Savic, who spent the 2011/12 season with current champions Manchester City.

The Montenegro international was part of the squad which helped the Blues clinch the title two years ago before being sacrificed as part of the deal which saw Matija Nastasic swap Florence for Manchester.

The 23-year-old has gone on to become a key member of La Viola’s squad during that time, and has attracted the attentions of a number of European sides, including Spurs.

Chiriches endured an inconsistent first season in English football after joining from Steaua Bucharest almost a year ago and could be used as a bargaining tool to land Savic.
