Southampton Boss Mauricio Pochettino To Snub Spurs And Stay At St Mary’s

Argentinian has just one year left on his current Saints deal.

Highly rated young Southampton head coach Mauricio Pochettino now looks like staying at St Mary’s next season after all, despite recent strong interest in the Argentinian’s services from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.

The former Espanyol boss had been expected to quit the south coast club this summer in order to move to White Hart Lane after the north London club decided to part company with manager Tim Sherwood earlier this month.

However, with there now being a reported split in the Spurs boardroom over who should be their new coach next season, Pochettino looks like staying at the club who he guided to a shock eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season.

But first the 42-year-old will hold talks with Saints chairman Ralph Krueger and owner Katharina Liebherr to ascertain just how many of the club’s star players are going to be offloaded this summer and how much money he will have to spend in the transfer window as well, with Pochettino known to be keen to keep hold of Rickie Lambert, Jay Rodriguez, Morgan Schneiderlin and Jose Fonte.
