Serie A side hope to tempt Spurs to sell by using Macedonia star as bait.
Check in to Belgium vs Algeria
Napoli are keen to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen before this summer’s World Cup, according to talkSPORT.
Vertonghen has 56 senior international caps to his name and is currently with the Belgium squad, who are preparing for their opening group game at Brazil 2014 – against Algeria in Belo Horizonte on June 17.
The 27-year-old made just 23 Premier League starts this season, which was disrupted by injury.
Vertonghen has two years left to run on his current contract at White Hart Lane and new head coach Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be reluctant to allow to him to leave.
However, talkSPORT claim that Napoli plan to make a persuasive player-plus-cash offer involving Macedonian star Goran Pandev.
Pandev, 30, plays best in a central attacking midfield position, but he is equally comfortable out wide or as a traditional striker.
He is an excellent dribbler, who wins a lot of free kicks and often takes them himself. He is also renowned as a talented finisher and a top passer, with a keen eye for a through pass.
Pandev scored seven goals and provided four assists in 29 Serie A games for Napoli this season.
He has been capped 75 times at senior international level, scoring 26 goals.
