Top 50 Premier League Transfer Targets: Summer 2014

40. Alex Song (Barcelona)

Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song has not had the best of times at Barcelona since his big-money move to the Nou Camp back in 2012. The Cameroon international now looks likely to be available after failing to break into the club’s starting lineup on a regular basis, with a move back to the Premier League looking on the cards. While there has also been talk of interest from several Italian clubs, Arsenal could be ready to take him back to the Emirates Stadium as they are yet to truly replace him in that defensive midfield role. Liverpool and Manchester United have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the 26-year-old.

39. Javier Pastore (Paris Saint-Germain)

With big-spending French giants Paris Saint-Germain likely to bring in yet more big names in this summer’s transfer window, it has been suggested that Argentine midfielder Javier Pastore could be one of their current squad to make way in the coming months. The 24-year-old was one of the club’s first major investments following their Qatari takeover in 2011, but he has struggled to find his best form for the Ligue 1 champions. The former Palermo man is wanted back in Serie A, but Liverpool and Manchester United are thought to be among his admirers from the Premier League.

38. Tom Ince (Blackpool)

With reports emerging that Blackpool winger Tom Ince has rejected a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan to remain in England, a Premier League club will surely snap up this highly promising England youngster this summer. The 22-year-old spent the second half of the 2013/14 season on loan with Crystal Palace, but it is currently thought that Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United would be the leading contenders for his signature. Although he is set to be out of contract with Blackpool, English clubs will have to pay a fee of around £5m in compensation to seal his transfer.

37. Loic Remy (Queens Park Rangers)

Loic Remy is set to be among the most in-demand strikers in England again this summer after also attracting plenty of interest last year. The prolific Frenchman has just completed a successful loan spell with Newcastle, scoring 14 goals in the league, though he does not look like making a permanent switch to St James’ Park from Queens Park Rangers, who also look unlikely to hold onto him despite their promotion back to the top flight from the Championship. Arsenal are in the market for a new striker and have reportedly been looking at him, a move which he is said to welcome. Liverpool could also be outsiders to snap him up as they keep an eye on his situation.

36. Dani Alves (Barcelona)

With a mass cull expected to take place at Barcelona this summer, Brazilian right-back Dani Alves could be among those to depart the La Liga giants. The 31-year-old has been integral to the team’s success since he joined from Sevilla back in 2008, and he still looks like he has something to offer as several top clubs around Europe show an interest in him. Although he will no doubt have big-money offers from Ligue 1, Manchester City could try to lure him to the Etihad Stadium, while Arsenal have also shown an interest in him at several points in his career.
