Queens Park Rangers have continued their summer transfer activity, with the West London club confirming the signing of Chilean international forward Eduardo Vargas on a season-long loan from Serie A side Napoli.

Vargas enjoyed a fine World Cup for Chile, scoring a crucial goal in their group game against Spain, and arrives at Loftus Road with a fine reputation, despite his time at Napoli largely having been dominated by loan spells away from the San Paolo.

The 24 year-old signed for Napoli in 2012 from Universidad de Chile back in the player’s homeland, although he has made just 19 senior league appearances for the club since his arrival in Italy.

His acclimatisation to the rigors of European football have largely come in the shape of loan spells away from Naples with Gremio and Valencia.

He impressed under Unai Emery in La Liga last season, and Valencia as well as Arsenal were reportedly keen on signing the player, but it is Harry Redknapp who has pounced to strengthen his frontline with an international standard forward.

Rangers certainly need the firepower after losing their opening Premier League match 1-0 against Hull City at Loftus Road, with striker Charlie Austin seeing a tame penalty saved.
