Manchester United could be set to make a double swoop on Real Madrid this summer as they keep an eye on the situation of Arsenal and Chelsea target Sami Khedira, according to the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils have been tracking Angel Di Maria for much of the summer transfer window, and the Argentine winger remains their top target in what could potentially be a club-record deal for them, but the possibility of Khedira leaving has also put the club on alert.
With United enjoying little success in their efforts to sign other midfield targets such as Juventus’ Arturo Vidal or Fredy Guarin of Inter Milan, the German World Cup winner could now be a decent alternative in that position.
The 27-year-old has been mostly linked with Arsenal and Chelsea this summer, with the Gunners in particular looking in need of reinforcements in the defensive midfield area after an injury to Mikel Arteta this week.
Still, United could be set to hijack a deal for Khedira to move to the Emirates Stadium, and there’s no doubt that a move to sign both players from Madrid would be a superb piece of business to enhance Louis van Gaal’s strength in the middle of the pitch.
