Michael Dawson looks set for a move to Hull City with Sky Sports reporting that the central defender is to undergo a medical with the Tigers imminently.
Dawson has been a target for Hull boss Steve Bruce all summer long with the former Sunderland manager desperate to strengthen his defence with the former England international.
The transfer looked to be dead after talks last month but Spurs are now happy to let their club captain leave with Sevilla defender Federico Fazio coming in as his replacement.
Spurs have activated Fazio’s £8 million release clause and are currently discussing personal terms with the centre back.
Fazio captained Sevilla to Europa League triumph last season, making a total of 38 appearances for the Spanish club.
Spurs moved to sign the Argentine after failing in their attempts to sign Villarreal centre back Mateo Musacchio.
Dawson will now move on from a club that he joined from Nottingham Forest in 2005. He has made over 300 appearances for the Spurs and was made club captain in 2012 following Ledley King’s retirement.
Bruce was confident of signing his man before the transfer window closed.
“We hope we can get Michael Dawson,” Bruce said
“There’s a deal in place in principle anyway. Hopefully, touch wood, we’ll see what develops.”
