Newly appointed Argentina national coach Gerardo Martino saw his side take a fraction of revenge for their World Cup final defeat to Germany with Man United new-boy playing a part in all four goals.

The away side took the lead in the 19th minute when Aguero provided a superb assist for Man City striker Sergio Aguero to give Argentina the lead and five minutes before the break the former Real Madrid man laid on for rejuvenated Tottenham man Erik Lamela to double the lead.

Barely a minute into the second half and Di Maria was at it again, providing a telling cross for Federico Fernández to head home and then two minutes later, with the game not even 50 minutes old, the £59.7m winger scored a delightful fourth to end the game as a contest.

Germany pulled a goal back almost immediately when Chelsea attacker put away a left footed effort and with ten minutes left of the game World Cup final hero Mario Goetze gave the scoreline an element of respectability to make it 4-2.
