According to reports in Tuttosport, the Turin-based side are interested in recruiting the experienced Brazilian, who plans to leave the Camp Nou when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Several reports had simultaneously linked the Italian side with a move for England defender Glen Johnson, whose Anfield contract also expires at the conclusion of the current campaign.

Johnson, who is currently sidelined through injury, faces a battle to win back his place in Brendan Rodgers’ team, following the summer arrivals of young full-backs Javier Manquillo and Alberto Moreno, and is unlikely to be given a new long-term contract at the age of 30.

Alves, 31, has been with Barcelona since joining from Sevilla in 2008. He has scored 20 goals in 299 games for the Catalan giants thus far, wining four La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies, among a variety of other honours.

In comparison, Johnson moved to Liverpool from Portsmouth in 2009, and has made 174 appearances, scoring eight times. However, fans have grown steadily more critical of his performances in recent years, leading to speculation regarding a potential exit.
