Reports have emerged in the last few days that United have a deal in the works to re-sign one of their former greats in a deal worth roughly £55m next summer, continuing the club’s recent policy of big spending under new manager Louis van Gaal.

Having signed the likes of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao this summer, Ronaldo would be the latest and arguably greatest in their recent big-name additions, and it could boost them further if it means that Real will then look to sign one of their rivals’ best players to fill the void left by his departure.

Although the likes of Yaya Toure and Marco Reus have also been linked with Madrid in recent times, it is now understood that Carlo Ancelotti would choose Chelsea star Hazard as his top priority target to come in and fill Ronaldo’s role in the team, with the Belgian attacker showing himself to be a truly world class performer in recent times, and one who could start to match the Portuguese star’s incredible goalscoring feats.

Still only 23, Hazard has been far and away Chelsea’s best player in the last couple of years, and his profile certainly matches that of a classic Real Madrid ‘Galactico’ signing, and his price tag is likely to be of a similar ilk.

Real are hoping to make an opening offer of around £58m for the former Lille player, though they could also go higher as Chelsea are unlikely to let him go easily after his superb recent displays for club and country.
