Grealish, who has been away on international duty with Republic of Ireland Under 21s but is still eligible to play for England, has been in and around the Villa first team at the start of this season, playing the full match as Villa were beaten by Leyton Orient in the League Cup and also seeing Premier League action from the bench, impressing recently against Hull City.

The young, fleet-footed winger also has a full season of Football League action under his belt, having spent the 2013/14 campaign in League One with Notts County as he helped the Magpies narrowly avoid relegation on the final day of the season, before leaving Meadow Lane to glowing reviews from manager Shaun Derry.

A boyhood Villa fan who has risen through the ranks at the club, the report suggests that Grealish is likely to be keen to stay at Villa Park, but only if they up their £5,000 per week contract offer.

If an impasse is reached between the two parties then Chelsea seem to be waiting in the wings, with the Blues monitoring a player who has emerged as a precocious young talent.
