Chelsea Defender Gary Cahil Set To Follow Eden Hazard In Comitting to Blues With New Contract

Cahil was named England’s vice captain earlier this month.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahil is set to extend his stay with the Blues and sign a new three year contract, the Metro reports.

The England international has been a key component of Jose Mourinho’s side in recent times and will now be rewarded for his excellent form as the Portuguese coach looks to plan for the future.

Cahil will join join Eden Hazard in committing his future to Chelsea. The Belgian play maker is in negotiations to become the highest paid player in the clubs history with his new deal set to be around £200,000 a week.

Mourinho has been busy tying his most important players to new contracts recently with Thibaut Courtois also extending his stay by signing a five year deal earlier in the month.

The news that both Cahil and Hazard will shortly sign new deals will top off an excellent start to the season for the Blues as they currently sit at the top of the Premier League table having won all four of their games so far this season.

This excellent form follows on from an excellent summer where they signed all their main transfer targets including Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas.
