Reds linked with Bernabeu forward.Liverpool are reportedly plotting a bid to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in next summer’s transfer window, according to Spanish source Fichajes.com.
The Reds are still searching for a player to fill the void left by Luis Suarez, who made the £75m move to Barcelona this summer, and Benzema has long been one of the top targets on their radar.
The French international has been a superb goalscorer throughout his career, though he has gone through several ups and downs with Real and may not be in their long-term plans.
The Spanish giants brought in Javier Hernandez on loan from Manchester United to challenge Benzema for his place in the team, while big names such as Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero have been linked with the club in recent times.
Liverpool themselves made a big-name signing in Mario Balotelli this summer, with the Italian front-man brought in by Brendan Rodgers to replace Suarez upfront, but the team arguably still look overly-reliant on the injury prone Daniel Sturridge.
Benzema would no doubt be a superb addition to the Premier League, and has been linked with other English clubs in the past.
