Does this impressive Blues starlet deserve a first-team chance?
Chelsea youngster Lucas Piazon was in impressive form for loan side Frankfurt this weekend, scoring a crucial stoppage time winner with an absolute beauty of a free-kick.
The 20-year-old is a highly regarded talent but has understandably found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Stamford Bridge, with this spell in the Bundesliga the third club he has joined on loan since moving to the Blues from Brazilian side Sao Paulo in 2011.
This was his first goal for Frankfurt, and the superb ability combined with nerves of steel to come up with the goods at such a crucial moment surely means he is worth looking at for Jose Mourinho?
The technique is reminiscent of Didier Drogba, who may need replacing in a year’s time as, at 36, he can surely not be considered a long-term option upfront for the club.
Chelsea are well known, however, for dipping into the transfer market instead of looking to youth, but could Piazon work his way into the starting lineup with more great goals like this?
