Reds closing in on a deal for free agent Victor Valdes.
Liverpool are hoping to secure the signing of former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes on a free transfer within the next two weeks, report the Express, with the Spaniard set to undergo what is likely to be an extensive medical with the club during the upcoming international break.

Valdes has been without a club since he left Barcelona, the only club side that he has ever played for, this summer – with his recuperation from serious injury having put paid to any hope of finding a new club during the summer window.
As a free agent, however, he can sign for a new club at any time and, providing a club has enough space in their 25-man Premier League squad, as Liverpool do, can be registered to play.
The Reds’ current first choice ‘keeper, Simon Mignolet, has been under increased scrutiny in recent weeks, with club legend Jamie Carragher criticising the Belgian for a lack of game-changing contributions since he arrived at Anfield from Sunderland during the 2013 summer window.
The signing of Valdes would potentially put his position in jeopardy, but would also give Brendan Rodgers a little more peace of mind in the goalkeeping position, with current back-up, Australian Brad Jones, rarely having looked good enough during his brief appearances for the club since joining from Middlesbrough and third choice Danny Ward being an inexperienced Welsh teenager.
