Lee Dixon jumps to the aid of fellow Gunner Nacho Monreal after Arsenal fans abuse him…
Former Arsenal full-back Lee Dixon has leapt to the defence of current Gunner Nacho Monreal following a torrent of abuse being sent the Spaniard’s way via Twitter.
Arsenal January Transfers: Arsenal’s four-man wish list for January: Manchester United defender tops it.
Arsenal Man United Stojanovic: Arsenal and Manchester United send scouts to watch teenage sensation Petar Stojanovic.
Liverpool Delph: Liverpool on alert as England midfielder reveals desire to leave Aston Villa.
The Spanish left-back, who is currently being utilised as a centre-back due to the club’s defensive crisis, was involved in a Twitter Q&A after Arsenal’s capitulation against Anderlecht on Tuesday.
Understandably the fans were not happy and Monreal became the target for a number of abusive messages over the social media platform.
Regardless of his performance against the Belgian side, it is not right for fans to slate their own players to such an extent.
Clearly a sentiment that Dixon agrees with and the former England international let the fans know what he thought of their comments.
Some really stupid comments out there yesterday re hashtag AskMonreal.

A poor defensive showing certainly contributed to Arsene Wenger’s side throwing away a three goal lead against their Champions League opponents and Monreal may have been somewhat culpable after making a number of mistakes.
It was a woeful performance from the entire team defensively however, with them failing to hold their shape and keep tight when it was required.
The 28-year-old has been used as something of a scapegoat on a number of occasions and it seems that way once again. Here are a selection of some of the worst Tweets from the Q&A:
#AskMonreal When are you gonna leave arsenal ? P.s asap plz x

#AskMonreal Nacho, you’re known for being a crap left-back, so what makes Arsene Wenger think you’ll be any good in the middle of defence?
