See the stars picked out by legendary Spain midfielder Xavi.
Barcelona’s star midfielder Xavi has named Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling and Everton’s Ross Barkley as players who have the quality necessary to play in Catalonia.
Xavi, who is legendary for his amazing passing and technical ability, told the Daily Mirror that the pair are up to the high standards of his club.
“Yes, why not? I think that they could. They have incredible physical capabilities and they are good technically.”
Barkley, 20 and Sterling, 19, both had their breakthrough season in 2013/14, but have struggled this term.
Everton midfielder Barkley did well early on before being injured, while Sterling has shone occasionally for a struggling Liverpool side.
Their amazing potential, and the abilities that Xavi mentioned, have meant that both are continually linked with big clubs. Barkley signed a new five year deal earlier this season to tie him down in the short term, while Sterling has yet to commit to a new deal amid interest from Real Madrid.
England fans will be delighted to see a player of Xavi’s quality complimenting English attackers in the mould of the pair. For far too long England have been accused of not producing dynamic, technically gifted players with great dribbling ability. Barkley and Sterling have this in spades.
While we want to continue seeing them in the Premier League, maybe a move to Spain would do the pair good?
