The Egyptian Messi has struggled to live up to the promise he showed at Basel last year and as a result has had to make do with being a bit part player. It’s unlikely that he’ll establish himself within the starting XI anytime soon and he won’t want to be spending the majority of his time in the Premier League on a bench in west London. The form of those around him mean that he will seldom be missed, and with more arrivals likely in the near future he will only fall further down the pecking order before too long.
