Liverpool only brought Chirivella to the Premier League twelve months ago, striking a deal with Valencia to pay compensation of just £200,000 for the youngster, beating both Real Madrid and Barcelona to the punch as both considered moves for the classy teenage midfielder.

Real have reportedly identified a lack of quality within the club’s youth teams as an issue that could hold them back and are on a recruitment drive, identifying Chirivella as a player who could come in and really improve the level of talent in their C and B teams before graduating to becoming a first team star at the Bernabeu in the future.

Liverpool are likely to be well aware of Chirivella’s quality, however, and will be bracing themselves for bids from Real and the near future with a determination not to allow one of their most exciting young talents leave the club so soon after his arrival.
