However, the Premier League hopefuls that are still in the race have been boosted by news from the Daily Star claiming that the Norwegian club have denied that they have received any bids for the player from the Red Devils.
In a recent interview with Norweigan television station TV2, Stromsgodset’s sporting director Jostein Flo rubbished the reports claiming the Premier League giants had made an offer for the talented midfielder – and insisted they were nothing but pure speculation.
“We have not received a bid from Manchester United for Odegaard, so once again this is just speculation,” Flo told reporters.
“It might have come through the mailbox, but it has certainly not reached me.”
The news could now give Arsene Wenger, Brendan Rodgers and Jose Mourinho renewed impetus to bring the 15-year-old to the Premier League, though they will likely have to do battle with Real Madrid, who are also interested.
