The Blues beat Hull City 2-0 on Saturday to make sure that they got over their first loss of the season against Newcastle United from the week before. The Czech Republic international played against the Tigers as regular keeper Thibaut Courtois had picked up an injury. The 32-year-old has been finding it difficult to get in the team with his younger colleague in great form.
The Belgian is expected to make it back in to the side for their next match against Stoke City next Monday. This will mean that Cech will have to sit on the bench again.
“We only judge the team when the season is finished and you can see how many trophies the team has in hand,” he told the official club website.
“It is difficult to say which Chelsea side in history was the best because a lot of them won trophies. This team has huge potential, it has been doing really well this season, we are top of the league and have been doing some brilliant games but we are empty-handed at the moment, and I don’t like to compare the teams until the season is finished,” continued the keeper.
The Stamford Bridge outfit are currently top of the Premier League, and play Derby County in the quarter final of the League Cup this week.
