The former England international has played well for the Citizens since signing for them in the summer. He joined them on a free after his contract at Chelsea ran out at the end of last season.
The 36-year-old has scored four times in the Premier League, and twice in the League Cup. These goals coupled with good performances have helped endear the midfielder to the Sky Blues’ fans, and they are now keen for him to stay longer at the Premier League champions.
Originally Lampard was only supposed to be on loan at the club until February, but with Yaya Toure going to the African Cup of Nations Manuel Pellegrini wants him to stay until the end of the season.
With the club he is on loan from New York City being owned by the same people as Manchester City, any extension should be a formality as long as the player agrees.
