CSKA Moscow slap a hefty price tag on striker Seydou Doumbia.

Russian Premier League outfit CSKA Moscow have slapped a significant price tag on their prolific Ivorian striker Seydou Doumbia, with the Express reporting that Liverpool, Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur would have to part with £20 million if they are going to bring the 26 year-old centre forward to the Premier League.

Doumbia has long been rated as an explosive and clinical striker who could have the minerals to make it in the Premier League, but his evisceration of Manchester City in two Champions League ties recently have led to increased interest in bringing Doumbia to the Premier League and giving him the opportunity to shine in a major European league.

Despite the admiration of Doumbia that seems to be coming from some Premier League circles, however, CSKA Moscow are determined to try and keep hold of their star asset and, according to the club’s general director Roman Babaev, it would take a bid of around £20m to tempt them into selling:

“If I have to make an assessment based on the market and the level of the player, I think that Doumbia is worth £20m.”

If any of the Premier League trio believe that Doumbia is capable of replicating his Russian domestic and Champions League form in English football, however, they could well decide that £20m is a fee that could represent a sound investment, potentially meaning that a January transfer battle is on the cards.
