The player himself supposedly had the freedom to choose between either side interested in his signature.

But it appears Hamburg are now prepared to concede defeat in the chase for the 17 year old, with the Hamburger Morgen Posten saying their sources have confirmed Bielik has reject the move of the Bundesliga side and will move to the Emirates Stadium in a £3 million deal.

The report states Hamburg had offered the youngster a place in the senior squad and the chance of Bundesliga appearances this season and they even invited him to their training ground. However, the German club simply couldn’t match the Gunners’ terms.

Arsenal will be glad to have secured their first signing of the January window especially in central midfield with the news that midfield stalwart and club captain Mikel Arteta has suffered an injury setback and could be sidelined for many more weeks to come.
