The 22 year old Egyptian has, perhaps unsurprisingly, struggled to retain a foothold in the Chelsea first team set-up since his move to West London in January 2014 and now his agent, Oliver Kronenberg, suggests an imminent exit is on the cards.
“It’s very likely he’ll leave Chelsea on loan,” Kronenberg told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I spoke to Roma, but the cost of the operation is very high. He is on big wages at the moment and would like to maintain them. We’ll wait and see what happens.”
The former FC Basel man impressed in patches last term but has barely had a look-in this season, failing to make a single Premier League start, and has the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian and Andre Schurrle ahead of him in Jose Mourinho’s pecking order.
That said it seems unlikely Mourinho would take the risk of reducing his squad with Chelsea fighting for honours on four fronts.
Salah’s long term future does however look likely to lie away from Chelsea and the Premier League side may struggle to recoup the £11m they paid for the player.
