The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and is therefore available at a cut-price in January, and having been admirers of Cork for the past four years, Swansea are set to pounce.

The Swans were first linked to the Saints midfielder during Brendan Rodgers’ time as manager ago and Gary Monk is also interested in adding his services at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea and Southampton are to meet in a Premier League clash on Sunday, and talks have intensified before the fixture.

Cork has made 15 appearances for the Champions League chasers this campaign, but the Saints won’t want their midfielder to leave on a free in the summer with the Englishman having not committed to a new deal.
