The Blues have been attempting to sell the German ahead of moves to bring in Juan Cuadrado to the team. The Colombian plays in the same position as the World Cup winner. It had been thought that a fee of £22.5 million had been agreed though it appears this isn’t the case.

Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs told Wolfsburger Nachrichten:”There is no agreement at the moment. The clock is running out. Our options are getting less hour by hour. It depends on money. We still would like to sign him.”

Even without Cuadrado at the Stamford Bridge outfit the 24-year-old has been unable to get much game time at the London club in the current campaign. He has made 19 appearances this season, but only nine of them have been in the starting XI and Schurrle has also scored four goals in the process.

If this transfer doesn’t go through then it could potentially put the transfer of the Fiorentina midfielder in danger. The Blues need the money from this deal to keep within Financial Fair Play rules when buying the Serie A star.
