“I am very happy and thankful for this opportunity I’ve been given.  This is a great club and honestly it is like a dream to join the Chelsea family and to know that the manager believes in me. I’m happy,” Cuadrado told the club’s website.

The 26-year-old joins the club less than an hour after Wolfsburg announced that they had secured Andre Schurrle from Stamford Bridge and the Colombia international will be a like-for-like replacement for the German.

Cuadrado has been greatly impressing for both club and country and caught more than a few eyes with his performances at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Jose Mourinho has been tracking the South American for some time, but had to oversee departures first in order to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

Cuadrado will now compete with the likes of Willian, Oscar and Eden Hazard for a place in the starting XI, although the Colombian’s versatility means he can also play as a right-back or in central midfield.
