Bertrand has been at St Mary’s on a temporary basis since the summer and has greatly impressed as Ronald Koeman’s men have performed above expectations in the Premier League.

The Englishman was brought in to fill the void left by Luke Shaw’s departure to Manchester United and has clearly done enough to convince Koeman to snap up the left-back on a permanent deal.

Bertrand joined the Blues from Gillingham in the summer of 2005, but was sent out on-loan six times before joining the Saints this season and only managed to play 57 times for the West London club in nine-and-a-half years.

However, the 25-year-old is sure to be more of a first team regular on he South Coast than he ever was at Stamford Bridge.
