Schneiderlin impressed to such an extent with his performances for Southampton last season that France boss Didier Deschamps gave the midfielder a place in his World Cup standby list.
The success certainly went to the 25-year-old’s head when he voiced a desire to leave the Saints for a Champions League club.
However, while interest from Arsenal and Manchester United remains, the most exciting part of the France international’s deadline-day has been his return to training:
