PSG Vs Chelsea: Defender David Luiz Insists Blues are Better Without Him

No looking back for the former Blues defender…

Chelsea face Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night in the last 16 of the Champions League, and former Stamford Bridge favourite David Luiz has spoken out in admiration of the current Blues team.

Luiz signed for PSG in a £50m deal last June, a world transfer-record for a defender, and Mourinho’s men have excelled since his departure, using the cash to sign stars Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas – in other words, Chelsea did exceptional business in getting rid of the error-prone 27-year-old for an incredible amount of money.

Ahead of his Chelsea reunion, the Brazil vice-captain has been nothing but complimentary of the Blues;

“Chelsea are better this season,” the Brazilian was quoted by the Daily Star.

“Above all, they are better balanced following the arrival of Fabregas.”

“He’s perhaps the player they were missing: he balances the midfield, makes the team play well and knows how to hold on to the ball from time-to-time.”

“With the arrival of Diego Costa – a warrior forward who always wants to score and challenge defenders – and the continuity provided by Mourinho in the dugout, it’s logical Chelsea are stronger this season.”
