Tigres UANL and Monterrey are cross-city rivals.

Tigres manager, Ricardo Ferretti, said he welcomes Antonio Mohamed to the city but doesn’t wish him any luck, as Monterrey are his side’s biggest rival in Mexico’s Liga MX.

Tuca said he regretted the dismissal of Carlos Barra, but understood why Monterrey needed change.

“It is sad on one side but good news too. We are all colleagues; the sad part is to see Carlos Barra leaving because he is a great man and a great manager. But as I always say, we live on results,” said Ferretti about Barra’s dismissal.

“I wish Mohamed the best of luck, except when he plays against us!” the Tigres boss added.

Mohamed beat Tigres during the last season’s Liga MX final and promptly dedicated the title to Monterrey’s fans. It all adds up to potentially explosive local derby when the two teams face each other the 11th April at Tigres’ “Volcan” stadium.

Tigres are preparing for their opening game in the Copa Libertadores this Wednesday when they will face Juan Aurich from Peru. The Mexican side are the clear favourites.
