Everton travel to Switzerland to play BSC Young Boys in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 tie on Thursday evening. The Toffees will be looking to their European adventure as their last chance at having some success in what has been a very disappointing season.
A big talking point of the match is that it will be played on an artificial surface. The Blues have been training on a similar pitch in the build up to the fixture in order to get used to the unfamiliar surface. Even so, the Swiss side beat Napoli 2-0 at home in the groups stage so will still be very dangerous.
The Goodison Park outfit have had several players return from injury lay offs recently, and will only be missing long term absentees Steven Pienaar, Tony Hibbert, and Leon Osman. Leighton Baines and Aiden McGeady are expected to make it but will need late fitness tests.
Their opponents will be without midfielder Matias Vitkieviez, but other than have a full squad to choose from. They will be hoping to pile further misery on the Premier League team with the help of striker Guillaume Hoarau, who scored five times in the six group stage matches.
