OM laid down a statement of intent with a 6-1 hammering of strugglers TFC in Ligue 1 on Friday evening
Marcelo Bielsa has praised his Olympique Marseille charges following their convincing 6-1 hammering of Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Friday evening.
The result puts OM into second place in the French table. They remain one point behind leaders Olympique Lyonnais, but move ahead of Paris Saint-Germain on goal difference – although the Parisians do have a game in hand.
They were clearly a class above Toulouse, and after early goals from Michy Batshuayi and Baptiste Aloe, the game was over as a contest.
“The outworking of the match was favourable to us,” began coach Bielsa, as reported by Toulouse’s official website.
“There were chances on both sides, but unlike them, we were efficient.
“The team was great, because they succeeded in being a different class from their opponents. Concerning the defenders, this was satisfying-certain players managed to reach an excellent level of performance.
“Despite this, however, our opponents did manage to create several chances.”
OM will watch on anxiously this weekend, with Paris Saint-Germain seeking to overtake them as they take on Racing Club de Lens, while league leaders Lyon travel to Montpellier on Saturday evening aiming to preserve their four-point gap over Bielsa’s charges.
