Chelsea boss set to be offered new deal despite Champions League exit
Chelsea 2014/15 and FIVE more great teams who failed in the Champions League, including Arsenal’s Invincibles!

The announcement of the large transfer kitty comes just over 24 hours after Chelsea’s disappointing Champions League last 16 exit at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain, as Roman Abramovich plans to try and win back the trophy the Blues won for the only time in their history back in 2012.

A source close to the billionaire owner has revealed that while he was upset at the result – which sent the French club through on away goals – he was aware that the squad were not as strong, compared to some of the other sides still in at this stage of the competition.

“Roman was desperately disappointed with the result and the performance against PSG.

“But he knows that the current Chelsea squad is lacking the depth of talent of rivals like Manchester City, PSG and certainly Real Madrid, Barca and Bayern Munich,” the source explained.

The revelations would suggest that Europe’s showpiece competition is the Russian’s primary focus, despite the Blues having a strong lead over second-placed Manchester City in the Premier League with just a handful of games to go, as well as the Capital One Cup already in the bag.

On top of the lucrative television deal signed with the top flight clubs this year, Chelsea have also acquired a reported £40m-a-year from a new shirt sponsorship deal with Yokohama, both of which are set to benefit Mourinho’s resources for the next campaign.
