The 26-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from Werder Bremen in 2012 but has made just six Premier League appearances thus far, scoring once.

He featured 15 times in his debut campaign, before spending time with Sevilla and Fiorentina, for whom he failed to make a league appearance.

Marin still has two years to run on his five-year contract but Mourinho is far from enthused by the prospect of welcoming him back to the club at the end of the current campaign.

The Daily Express believes that he’ll soon be sent on yet another loan deal, this time to Spain, with Malaga having the first option to sign him permanently.

He scored twice in 30 games for Sevilla last season, helping them win the Europa League, so should at least be accustomed to the division.
