With the game falling outside the official FIFA international calendar, Mexico boss Miguel Herrera and his opposite number Jurgen Klinsmann have both been forced to choose squads from their domestic leagues. It means Mexico are without star names such as Real Madrid’s Javier Hernandez and PSV Eindhoven’s Andres Guardado.

Both sides will play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer, and Mexico will also play in the Copa America in Chile, meaning this game is being viewed as a valuable opportunity for fringe players to make their claim for the a place in the final tournament squads.

Mexico have now announced their starting eleven for the game, and it has an extremely experimental feel to it:

Saucedo , Mier, Rodriguez, Salcedo, Flores, Velarde, Osuna, Montes, Esquivel, Herrera, Cubo Torres.
