Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly put Inter Milan hit-man Mauro Icardi at the top of his summer transfer wish-list, as the Blues look set to take advantage of stalled contract talks between the Serie A outfit and the forward.

According to Forza, Icardi is some way off agreeing a new contract at the San Siro, and the Premier League champions are poised to pounce on the stalling negotiations by tabling a €30m bid for the 22-year-old.

The reports from Italy claim that Internazionale will refuse the offer, but likely only so that the club can demand more money for his signature.

Nerazzurri owner Erick Thohir apparently values Icardi at a staggering €60m.

The Argentina international has been a bright spark in a faltering Inter side – scoring 21 goals in all competitions – and Blues boss Jose Mourinho is an alleged admirer of the young forward.

With Didier Drogba’s future at Stamford Bridge unknown beyond the end of the season, and Loic Remy perhaps not the quality desired in attack by the Portuguese manager, Chelsea are in the transfer market for more firepower to compete with Diego Costa up front.

However, if the asking price of €60m is correct, that would surely be a price too high for a forward yet to prove himself on the European stage.
