Liverpool are going to be stuck with Mario Balotelli for another season after his agent confirmed he is staying at Anfield, reports ITV.
The 24-year-old was wildly disappointing in his debut campaign with the Reds, scoring a measly four goals in 28 appearances after arriving for £16 million last summer. However, it appears that manager Brendan Rodgers will have to deal with the mercurial Italian for at least another seven months as Mino Raiola revealed that he is going nowhere in the next transfer window.
His representative said: “We have talks with Liverpool and he will stay. I spoke many times with the club and they were happy with his input as a professional.”
Asked whether Balotelli and Rodgers had adapted to each other, he added: “I think Mario did, I cannot talk for Brendan Rodgers. Obviously we’re pretty confident it’ll happen next year.”
It could be a difficult next few months for the Merseyside team as they attempt to bring in top quality players without the allure of Champions League football to entice them in. Even when they were in Europe’s premier club competition they were unable to bring in good enough players to replace the departing Luis Suarez, instead blowing their cash on strikers such as Balotelli.
However, were the Italy international to drastically improve next time round it could solve a lot of problems for Liverpool.
