The Bosnian international has emerged as a candidate to come in up front at Anfield, with manager Brendan Rodgers in need of new attacking options after a disappointing campaign from the likes of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert, plus numorous injuries to Daniel Sturridge.
Although Dzeko has not been a regular at the Etihad Stadium this term, he has previously shown a lethal goalscoring touch at this level, scoring 26 goals as City won the title last season.
According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are not alone in chasing the 29-year-old, with Roma also on the lookout for a new centre-forward this summer.
It is also reported that Liverpool are still in the hunt for Dzeko’s City team-mate James Milner, who is in talks over a possible new contract with City.
