The Blues are now the huge favourites to sign the French international, who scored 25 goals from out wide this season to establish himself as one of the best attacking players in Europe.
Griezmann previously shone at Real Sociedad before joining up with Diego Simeone’s side, and his game has just improved further to see him become a big target for elite clubs around the continent.
Chelsea are now thought to have met Griezmann’s £43.5m release clause at the Vincente Calderon, continuing their raid on the Spanish giants after buying Diego Costa and Filipe Luis from them last summer.
According to the Metro, bookies think this deal is making significant progress after odds were slashed on the 24-year-old making the move to Stamford Bridge before next season.
