The Manchester United forward’s loan spell with La Liga giants Real Madrid was not renewed at the end of the campaign and he doesn’t appear to have a future under Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.

Inter boss Roberto Mancini is understood to want to bring two new forwards to the San Siro this summer and Hernandez is one of the former Manchester City manager’s transfer targets.

A potential stumbling block is likely to come down to the fee as Inter’s opening bid is £2million less that the Red Devils’ asking price and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to an agreement.

The Mexican failed to nail down a permanent place with Los Blancos last year, but did come up with a priceless goal in the Champions League quarter-final second leg tie against arch-rivals Atletico Madrid back in April.

However, most of his appearances came from the substitutes bench and he was unable to impress enough to land a permanent deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
