The 22-year-old was in impressive form last season as the Italian side finished third in Serie A, just one point behind fierce rivals AS Roma. During the campaign the attacking midfielder scored 11 goals in all competitions, featuring 37 times under manager Stefano Pioli. He also made his senior debut for Brazil on June 7, coming on against Mexico in a warm up for the Copa America despite just being a standby for the squad.

As a result of this the youngster put pen to paper on a five year deal at the Stadio Olimpico just last March, with the Daily Express reporting at the time that he was happy with the project at the club. However, the Red Devils are seemingly still going to try and tempt Lazio with a large offer of £30m after latest claims from The Sun.

Manager Louis van Gaal seems to be on the lookout for players to enhance his front line before competing in the Champions League next season. The club have already announced on their official website the signing of winger Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven, and Anderson could be a similar injection of youth to the 21-year-old Dutchman.

Attacking players look a priority for United after some disappointing performances last season from big names like Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie, who all struggled to reach top form and provide what would have been expected in terms of goals and assists.

With Falcao returning to AS Monaco after this disappointing loan, it is no surprise to see Van Gaal bring in Depay quickly, with the versatile attacker able to play either out wide or up front, and Anderson would be a similarly wise purchase if the Reds can manage to bring him in this summer.
