Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio broke the news via his official Twitter account that the Potters have seen a €17million offer for the Swiss international accepted and talks between both parties are expected to take place in the near future.

If City are able to land the winger then it would be considered a major coup as a number of Premier League heavyweights have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old in past year [via Star Sport].

Liverpool attempted to lure Shaqiri to Anfield during the January transfer window, but he chose a move to Serie A instead [via Mirror Sport], while Merseyside rivals Everton are reportedly watching developments closely [via Mail Sport] and could now join the bidding war now that Stoke are reportedly in the driving seat.

After finding first team opportunities limited at Bayern Munich during the first half of last season, Shaqiri joined Inter in the winter but failed to make much of an impact at the San Siro.

In his 15 league apperances he was able to score just once and registered two assists.
