Man Utd goalkeeper’s agent denies transfer rumours, tells Spanish press he wants Old Trafford stay

United star in U-turn over transfer.

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes could end up staying at Old Trafford this summer after quotes from his agent in Spanish publication AS.

The former Barcelona shot-stopper had been linked with a move to Turkish side Antalyaspor, with ESPN reporting last week that the two clubs were in talks over a deal for the player who only moved to the Red Devils back in January,

The 33-year-old has only made two appearances for United since his move, with David de Gea the undisputed number one for Louis van Gaal’s side and Valdes serving only as a backup after some time out with injury.

Still, it seems the player is focused on continuing for the Premier League giants instead of making the move to Turkey, with his agent Gines Carvajal insisting he has not held talks with Antalyaspor over a transfer, denying that his client wants the move.

“Some people from Turkey have contacted me to negotiate the signing of Victor but I’ve never spoken with the president of the Turkish club,” he said. “Therefore I will not comment on his explanations of Victor.

“We do not think to talk to them because my player wants to join Antalyaspor.

“His thoughts are to continue as a player Manchester United. He has one year left on his contract with the club. We see no good reason to leave the club.”

This will come as good news for United, who stil face losing De Gea to Real Madrid this summer, though latest reports from Marca suggest it could be in a swap deal with the Bernabeu side, which would see Costa Rica ace Keylor Navas move in the other direction. It remains to be seen if the former Levante man would be targeted as a new number one, or if Valdes could then get his chance to stake his claim for the role.
