CONFIRMED: Man United squad numbers announced, Depay gets his No.7 wish, No.9 remains vacant…

Manchester United have confirmed their squad numbers for the 2015-16 season, which is exciting news given the amount of blockbuster arrivals at Old Trafford and the departure of Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain.

Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sergio Romero have all been lured to the club this summer, in what has been another window of heavy spending for Louis van Gaal, and all eyes will be fixed on their squad numbers.

It was recently revealed that Depay has asked his manager if he can be awarded the No.7 jersey for his debut campaign, assuring the Dutchman of his confidence to handle the pressure of wearing the iconic shirt – and his wish has been granted.

Notably, Victor Valdes has not been given a number following a fallout with van Gaal.

In what is also very interesting news, the Red Devils have left the No.9 shirt – which was worn by Radamel Falcao last season – vacant.

Could this be set aside for a new striker to make the move to the Theatre of Dreams this month?

Take a look at the confirmed squad numbers below…
